We are the Catricala Family: John, Pam, Stephanie,
John (JB), Matthew & Michael. We have lived
in Oakville for 16 years and are very passionate about hobbies. Lego Robotics is a hobby very close to our hearts, as we as parents have encouraged and
supported our daughter Stephanie and our sons JB & Matthew to be involved with winning robotic teams while at River Oaks School during their elementary
years. Mike is currently on this years team.
We have spent many happy hours with 2 kits and 2
teams challenging each other to create and design
robots to complete various challenges.
The competition was fierce but the fun was even
better!
Now with our families past experiences,
John will be playing lead role
with his background in computers (IT) and
Pam & John’s teaching experiences from the
Ontario Science Centre. At various times our children will be involved in mentoring and support as well.
We have decided to share this
great hobby with your family and encourage your
son(s) and daughter(s) to challenge their minds and
open up a world of endless possibilities.

John untila few years ago was the CIO of Mackenzie Financial, battling the rat race and overseeing a staff of just under 350 people. As life goes on, things change and John decided he didn't want to be part of the GO train "train" everyday and wanted to do something he was passionate about, spend 10 minutes with him talking about lego robotics and you will know exactly how he feels about it!
Pam is a busy mom of 4. Active over the years in anything her children & husband get involved with, she is a great supporter and often is the backbone of all that we do. In a previous life, Pam was a production manager in the clothing industry until she became the Catricala production manager!
With her background from the Science Centre, Pam has taken on the "Wee" ones initiating our Wee-Bots program.
Stephanie has graduated from York University in Linguistics. She attended Cawthra Park SS in the drama arts program and has plans to continue her studies at Humber College in their writing program so she can pursue her theatre arts writing dreams!
JB is attending Sheridan College in Mechanical Engineering and CADD design. He was a student in the FAMS program at WOSS and was on their winning FIRST Robotics team in Virginia, as the robot driver and the CADD designer.
Matthew, ever the free spirit, will be off to Algonquin college in Sept. taking their Outdoor Adventure program specilizing in river water canoeing.
Our youngest son, Michael, is in grade 10 at WOSS and was on the Sentinels World Championship team! He is teaching Wee-Bots this summer, enjoying the fresh look the wee-ones put on playing with lego.
This year we also have a few of our other FLL team winners, Amanda Rampertab, Jack Enders and Sam Rassmussen
teaching the Wee-Bot programs.
Since Stephanie is "flying" this summer, we have invited Cory Supizi into our E-Bots family. He is teaching the level 1 programs this summer. Cory knows a lot about robotics, being the Captain of the Oakville Trafalgar FRC team.
We have many volunteers that help us to promote and support our
hobby. Thanks to our FLL team members and their parents who promote lego robotics as often as they can!
We also have many of our FLL kids who will come in and be mentors in our summer school clubs. They have many hours of programming, building and teamwork hours under their belt and are a great contribution to our support team!
